Pokemon is also known as pocket monsters in Japan. It is managed by an association of three companies namely Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures, Copyrights are shared by three companies but Nintendo solely owns the trademark. This pokemon franchise was created in 1995 by Satoshi Tajiri, the basic plot of pokemon revolves about creatures with different abilities, traits and powers called as pokemon and human who is known as Pokemon Trainers. Pokemon trainers catch the pokemon and train them to fight in battle arenas, know as gyms, with every fight they win trainer earn a gym badge. Every trainer fights for more number of badges to become the most successful trainer in the Pokemon world.
The franchise began with a video game called Pokemon Red and green in 1996, it soon began as the anime series based on the game in Tokyo in 1997, As of now, it has aired more than 1000 episodes, divided into 6 series in Japan itself and also aired 22 seasons of Pokemon internationally. Apart from episodes, there are films of Pokemon also. There is a card game also officially launched by franchise known as Pokemon Trading Card game. The original video game was best selling series in Nintendo with more than 340 million copies sold and more than 1 billion mobile downloads. Since them, Pokemon has become the highest grossing media franchise of all time with approximately 90 billion dollars in revenue.
