Electronics and telecommunication play a prominent role in our life. Without communication, we cannot not think of survival. Invented back in mid-1800 by Alexander Graham Bell, the telephone is used for transmitting a message from one person to other. The first phone call is done by Graham Bell to his assistant “Minster Watson, come here, I want to see you.” The first phone lines run between Boston and Somerville, Massachusetts. Soon, the phone started between London and Paris giving birth to overseas phone calls in 1891. But the long-distance call is still not possible, until 1958.
In 1931, the world’s first emergency service number came 999 in London, UK, which could only be dialled from the special police box. Over the years telephone has seen many changes. There were various types of telephones from tap dialling, candlestick phones, touch-tone phones, cordless phones. In 1993, the world get its first commercial smartphone by IBM, which was used to send and receive faxes. The first cellular network was developed by Sprint for cell phone owners. After that, it has become the fastest-growing communication device in the world. Now there are more than billion phones available worldwide. Today communication has become much easier than before in the form of mobile, SMS, mails.
